6. Lesson to Warm Up – This lesson features our Hobby Horse warm up song called I’m a Hobby Horser. Play the song and have the students walk around the perimeter of the room (all in the same direction) to the rhythm of the music. Later this lesson can be used for many other locomotor skills to be part of the warmup.

7. Lesson on Walking – This lesson features the Hobby Horse Walking Circle Song that directs students to playfully walk in a circle, as a group, and use a variety of walks including heel toe, penguin, toe heel, tippy toe, sumo, heels only, marching and sloth.

8. Lesson on Trotting – This lesson features the Hobby Horse on the Line Trotting Song that directs students to trot in place, move forward and backwards, move at diagonals, and trot fast and slow.

9. Lesson on Prancing – This lesson features the Hobby Horse on the Line Prancing Song that directs students to prance in place, move forward and backwards, and move at diagonals.

10. Lesson on Stationary Movements – This lesson features The Hobby Horse Stationary Fun Song that directs students to perform a variety of stationary movements including pendulums, rocking horses, “Yee Haws” and stomps.

11. Lesson to Review Multiple Locomotor Skill Movements – this lesson features Hobby Horse Multiple Locomotor Skills Circle Song #1 – This song directs students to combine a variety of locomotor knowledge for walking, trotting, prancing and stationary movements.

12. Lesson on Leaping Form #1 (step, step, leap, hold) – This lesson features Hobby Horse Leaping Over the Puddle Circle Song that demonstrates and engages students in step, step, leap and hold style of leaping.

13. Lesson on Leaping Form #2 (leap, land, close) – This lesson features Hobby Horse Lily Pad Leaping Circle Song that demonstrates and engages students in the leap, land, close style of leaping.

14. Lesson on Jumping – This lesson features Hobby Horse Jumping Line Song that will direct students to use a variety of jumps including 2-foot jumps, mogul jumps, bell jumps, scissor jumps and straddle jumps. Students move side to side, forward, diagonal and more.

15. Lesson to Review Leaping and Jumping Locomotor Skills – This lesson features Hobby Horse Multiple Locomotor Skills Combination Circle Song #2. This song directs students to combine a variety of locomotor knowledge for leaping and jumping.

16. Lesson on Sliding – This lesson features The Hobby Horse Sliding Circle Song that teaches galloping through a progression of movements. Students learn to step/slide, then step/step, then step/trot until they are comfortable galloping. Then they practice a “galloping higher” variation before switching their LEAD foot and TRAIL foot and starting the progression all over again.

17. Lesson on Galloping – This lesson features The Hobby Horse Galloping Circle Song that directs students with the fundamentals of galloping and then galloping changing lead feet. Students learn the step, slide, step; step, step, trot, gallop and gallop higher method.

18. Lesson to Review Leaping, Jumping, Sliding, Galloping and more Locomotor Skills – This lesson features the Hobby Horse Locomotor Skills Circle Song #3. This song that combines a variety of locomotor skills including sliding, galloping, trotting, prancing, jumping, leaping and more.

19. Lesson on Hopping – This lesson features Hobby Horse A Hopping We Will Go Song that directs students to hop in a variety of ways including changing feet, to the right and left, diagonals and more.

20. Lesson on Skipping #1 (step hop) – This lesson features Hobby Horse Step Hop Skipping Song that teaches and directs students to learn how to skip using the Step Hop method.

21. Lesson on Skipping #2 (March Higher) – This lesson features The Hobby Horse March Higher Skipping Song that teaches and directs students to learn how to skip using the March Higher method.

23. The Hobby Horse Slide Dance Lesson – This lesson features our signature line dance, The Hobby Horse Slide. Students will learn a line dance called “The Hobby Horse Slide” which features shuffle steps, sumo walks, grapevines, spinning grapevines (for a more
advanced version) and jogging variations in the chorus. The verses and bridge
have students moving in a square (to the right, to the back, to the left, to the
front) for 8 counts per side. Different locomotor movements can be selected for
the two verses and the bridge.
